Vietnamese-American pickleball standout Quang Duong has made a bold career move, parting ways with Selkirk and signing with emerging Vietnamese paddle brand Sypik. The 19-year-old, currently ranked No. 7 in men’s singles on the PPA Tour, announced his departure on Wednesday, closing the chapter on a successful two-year partnership with the established U.S. paddle company.
“Thank you Selkirk for the support the last two years,” Duong shared on Instagram. “I was able to bring Selkirk around the world—from the USA to Melbourne, Kuala Lumpur, Ha Long Bay, Mumbai, and many other Asian countries. Let #pickleball continue to grow global.”
The very next day, Sypik made the partnership official, proudly welcoming Duong as the newest face of the brand. The signing is being hailed as a major milestone not just for Sypik, but for Vietnam’s presence on the global pickleball map.
“A historic handshake between a world-class Vietnamese athlete and a rising Vietnamese paddle brand shaking the global stage,” the company posted on social media. “Vietnamese pride when Vietnamese people affirm their class on the world pickleball map. Reaching international level, bringing Vietnamese aspirations to the world!”
A Meaningful Move With Global Implications
For Duong, this isn’t just a new endorsement—it’s a return to cultural roots and a chance to elevate Vietnamese representation in a rapidly growing international sport. Aligning with a Vietnamese brand like Sypik represents a meaningful synergy between personal identity and professional ambition.
The move is also a strategic one for Sypik, which has been gaining traction in Southeast Asia and now aims to expand its influence on the professional tour. Signing a high-profile player like Duong provides the brand with instant credibility and visibility on the sport’s biggest stages.
A Week Of Major Paddle Shifts
Duong’s switch is part of a broader wave of paddle sponsorship changes among top players this week. Fellow pro Tina Pisnik, previously with ProXR, has joined Warping Point, a brand positioning itself as a next-gen player in paddle innovation.
“With her elite experience and passion for the game, Tina joins us as we take Warping Point to the next dimension,” the brand announced.
Meanwhile, Dylan Frazier also made headlines by departing Selkirk to sign with Volair. Unlike a traditional endorsement, Frazier will be playing a hands-on role in paddle development.
“One of the top players in the world is joining forces with us—not just to play, but to help build,” Volair shared via Instagram. “Dylan will be deep in the development process, testing and shaping the next generation of pro-level paddles. Things are about to get real fun.”
What’s Next For Duong And Sypik
Duong’s signing with Sypik not only enhances his visibility as a rising star but signals a broader trend in pickleball: international brands and players are beginning to disrupt what was once a U.S.-centric landscape.
With Quang Duong as the face of Sypik, the company is positioning itself as more than a regional player—it’s staking a claim in the global conversation around high-performance pickleball gear.
And for Duong, the move marks a new chapter in a career that continues to gain momentum, both on and off the court.
